River Blue Roan Gelding Tennessee Walking Horse

3 years • Gelding • Tennessee Walking Horse

River is a beautiful 3 1/2 yr Blue Roan Tennessee - Standardbred cross!! This boy has been started right!!! He was lightly ridden in the beginning so he could grow and he’s 15.1 right now!! He's great on the trails but hasn't been pushed for his gait as they have taken it slow with him!! When he is asked for a gait he it is amazingly smooth!!! Luckily River is at the right age and has the right mindset to train the way they want!! Both of River’s parents are super smart with great temperaments and wonderful trail horses! On the trails River is great in a group, will stand to be mounted, crosses logs, puddles, and goes through water!! River stands quietly tied, for the farrier, to be groomed and to be saddled!! River would be best suited for an intermediate or a confident rider only because of his age!! Take a look at River’s video and see just how nice he really is with the owner’s 16-year-old daughter trail riding him! River is up to date on vaccines, worming, teeth, feet and getting a new coggins and health cert! Located in Casstown, OH

Kentucky Horses: Thoroughbreds, Gaited Breeds and More

Kentucky is famous for its horses. Lexington calls itself the Horse Capital of the World, the Kentucky Derby is run at Churchill Downs in Louisville, and the Bluegrass region is known for its Thoroughbred farms. A search of horses for sale in Kentucky can turn up sport horses, ranch horses, trail horses and breeding stock, and the filters on this page help you compare them by breed, age, price and location, whether you want a gaited trail horse, a Thoroughbred, a Quarter Horse or a pony.

Horses for Sale in Lexington, Louisville and Across the State

To look for horses for sale in Lexington KY or horses for sale in Louisville KY, enter the city or county in the City / County box, or browse farms and small towns across the state. Narrow the listings by breed, gender, age, height, color, discipline and price, and open a seller’s profile to see everything they have for sale. The state is also the birthplace of gaited breeds such as the Rocky Mountain Horse and the Kentucky Mountain Saddle Horse, and the American Saddlebred is closely associated with Kentucky too.

Buying a Horse in Kentucky

Price depends on the individual horse rather than the state, so compare similar horses before you make an offer, and ride a gaited horse before you buy to confirm that its gait is comfortable for you. If you are buying from out of state, ask the seller about the health paperwork required to cross state lines, get quotes for hauling, and agree a trial ride and a pre-purchase veterinary exam before you commit. Compare horses by age, training and temperament, ask for photos and video, and contact the seller through the listing to arrange a visit before you decide. Use the Discipline filter if you need a trail, pleasure or show horse, and the Gender filter for mares, geldings or stallions. Looking for something else? Where can I find horses for sale in Lexington KY or Louisville?

Enter Lexington or Louisville in the City / County box on this page to look for horses for sale in Lexington KY or horses for sale in Louisville Kentucky, or filter by state and browse everything in Kentucky. Are there Kentucky Mountain Saddle Horses and other gaited horses for sale in Kentucky?

Kentucky is home to several gaited breeds, so this is a good place to look. Filter the listings by breed to find a Kentucky Mountain Saddle Horse for sale, a Rocky Mountain Horse or a Tennessee Walking Horse, then check each one for the horse’s gait, training and registration. A gaited horse should be ridden before you buy, so arrange a trial ride with the seller.

How much do horses cost in Kentucky?

Price depends on the horse rather than the state. Breed, age, training, registration, bloodlines and discipline all matter, so a young prospect and a finished trail or show horse are priced very differently. Use the price filter to see what Kentucky sellers are asking today, and compare similar horses before you make an offer.

Are there Thoroughbreds for sale in Kentucky?

Thoroughbreds are listed by their sellers like any other breed, so use the Breed filter on this page to look for a Thoroughbred for sale in Kentucky. If you are considering one, ask about its age, racing or training history, soundness and registration, and what it is being sold to do next, and have a veterinarian perform a pre-purchase exam before you buy.

How do I get a horse home from Kentucky?

You can haul the horse yourself with a suitable trailer, or hire a commercial horse hauler, and it is worth getting quotes before you agree on a price. Ask the seller whether they can help arrange transport or meet partway, and plan rest stops and water for a long trip. Check the health papers you will need to cross state lines before you set off.

How do I contact a seller in Kentucky?

Every listing has a Message Seller button and the seller’s phone number and email address behind a reveal button. If you can, visit the horse and ride it, and request the papers and health history in writing before you agree a price.
